Drug Coated Balloons - Are they going to replace Stents?

1 year data from the recently presented Selution Denovo trial has shown that the sirolimus eluting Selution Drug Coated balloon is non inferior to stents after 1 year. Data presented at the TCT 2025 meeting in San Francisco, USA, marks a paradigm shift in the treatment of coronary artery disease and opens up the clinical indications for drug coated balloons in a drive to “leave nothing behind” in the coronary bed.

Dr Andrew Vanezis was one of the principal investigators of the trial and believes this is a landmark moment that will change guidelines and practice across the world.
